Experience

Tai Lahans has been in practice for 23 years working with HIV/AIDS and other chronic viral diseases and with cancer. In 1987 she founded the Kang Wen Clinic for HIV/AIDS. And in 1994 she co-founded the Integrated Care Clinic at Bastyr University. Her teaching experience is extensive, and in 2003 Tai Lahans founded the first residency program in integrated conventional and Chinese medicine in oncology. Lahans treats all cancers, including pediatric cancers.

Tai Lahans was awarded a Top Doc Award in 2003 from Seattle Magazine.

Tai Lahans' book - Integrating Conventional and Chinese Medicine in Cancer Care: A Clinical Guide
- covers many types of cancer and their treatment by conventional medicine integrating Chinese medicine. There are chapters on the main cancer types and separate chapters on issues that come about as a result of cancer itself and cancer treatment, the death and dying process from a medical perspective, and secondary prevention of cancer recurrence.

Tai Lahans has worked and lived in China for a total of four years, returning as often as possible and maintaining her relationship to teachers and researchers in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. She sits on several boards supporting cancer patients. Tai Lahans holds three Masters Degrees. She has a book in release from Elsevier Publishing London on integrated cancer treatment with Chinese medicine and another book accepted for publication on prevention of cancer with Chinese medicine.

Tai Lahans was voted Faculty of the Year at Bastyr University in 1998.

Background

Tai Lahans has been studying the medicines of various paradigms since 1966. She studied naturopathic medicine with practitioners in California, Ayurvedic medicine in India, Chinese medicine both here in the U.S. and in China and South Korea. She followed over 1000 HIV/AIDS patients - men women and children. She has followed even more cancer patients serving people with all cancers and from many walks of life.
